WHY Taplin Tapping Olympics #FindYourWHY! Marion Bevington Cheryl Chapman

WHY! Talpin is Tapping at the Olympics

And just what is the tapping?

Well no, this is not a new sport, but I was so excited to see that Bralon Taplin from Grenada won his semi final 400m race in 44.44 Seconds in Rio on Saturday 13th August 2016, and just seconds before the start he was seen preparing by using what appears to be some EFT tapping on two of the points on his face. I was so excited to witness Tapping at the Olympics that I just had to share it with you!

Have you ever been stuck in a mental box? Stuck down by fear or debilitated by a belief that what you want to do is too difficult?

This belief may have come through personal experience of the goal being difficult, a lot of… or perhaps too much work to achieve and maybe even impossible! How does your past shape you? this blog post delves deeper in that issue. I’ve had this happen to me on many occasions and with difficult goals, and a great example is speaking in public coherently, confidently and with out notes. You can read much more about this here The fear of speaking, Marion’s story.  Well now I do this for a living and I coach and mentor others to do the same.

I went from a nervous, stumbling and rather sweaty speaker to someone who is now confident, always has fun and enjoys speaking to any audience no matter size or location! I transformed the anxiety and mental blocks that stood in my way with the help of the tool called Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT for short. Since that time I’ve shared this technique with many of my clients, and now I use it regularly to help and support the WHY’s Women of The Live Love Laugh Lounge™ helping them to break old habits, find new choices, hit all kinds of personal records, reach peak performance as well as accomplish much much more.

EFT is the most well known form of energy psychology, a self-help and psychological tool that has become popular in the past few years and I was so pleased to see it in Rio!

Watch this to see it in action!

So back to tapping at the Olympics… In 2012, athlete Abi Oyepitan, also used EFT with a coach when she was suffering from a shoulder injury.  This injury was affecting her form during the 2012 Olympic trials. Carey and Abi started EFT tapping, and to Abi’s astonishment, her shoulder pain melted away within minutes. She was able to run her best time at the Olympics after making it through to the semi-finals for the 200m.

EFT is one of my favourite techniques to help process and release uncomfortable feelings and embrace the good ones! It helps you tap into your peak performance (all puns intended!) and get into “the Zone” so you achieve your goals and reach your full potential.

EFT tapping, dates back over 5000 years to Ancient Chinese Medicine, a cousin to acupuncture except you use fingers to tap on acupoints on your face body and hand.

So How Does It All Work?

When you feel a negative emotions there is an associated disruption in the body’s energy. It is this same energy that is measured when you have an ECG or similar medical test. A lot of performance issues, fear patterns, phobias, physical pain and disease are intricately connected to negative emotions.

The body, like everything in the universe, is made up of energy. So it makes sense that if you restore balance to the body’s energy that you will as a result resolve the negative emotions and physical symptoms that stem from the energy disruption. Tapping restores the body’s energy balance, and negative emotions are transformed.

By simply focusing on the issue you wish to transform, use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times each on 14 specific points on the body’s meridian points, has a balancing effect on your body’s energy, restoring it to a balanced state.

Meridians can be thought of like the “electrical wiring” of the body and each one connects to a major organ, so there is a heart meridian, a lung meridian, a small intestine meridian and 11 others. this is a very over simplified metaphor and for the benefits of this quick introduction may help clarify the concept for you.

This concept is from traditional Chinese medicine, which referred to the body’s energy as “ch’i.” In ancient times, the Chinese discovered 100 meridian points. They also discovered that by stimulating these meridian points, they could heal. Call it energy, call it the Source, call it life force, call it ch’i… Whatever you want to call it, it works.

In some ways, Tapping is similar to acupuncture. Like Tapping, acupuncture achieves healing through stimulating the body’s meridians and energy flow. However, unlike Tapping, acupuncture involves needles! “No needles” is definitely one of the advantages of Tapping. You are literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.

Take the edge off discomfort and free youself up to reach peak performance and to enjoy life much more!
